Help! Stream from NAS to iPad with AirVideo App?
Hi,
I just got my NAS set up and thought it would be great to wifi stream video to my iPad,
I installed the app on the pad but it asks me for a IP address (so I enter that of the NAS) it also asks for a port? what do i use?
I know doubt have got this all wrong and there's probably an easier way of streaming to the pad,
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and Happy new year to one and All.
Best Regards

+ Installed the Addon fine.
+ My iPhone found my Pro immediately and logged on
+ I get the same problem with everything being invalid when I try and play it
+ I also need to know if you can tell the Pro different folders to monitor ? Can't find how to do it anywhere and if anyone can enlighten me I would be very grateful
Update. 18th January 2011
You tell the add-on which folders to monitor by SSH ing into the ReadyNAS and editing the file readynas.properties
Syntax
Folder Label 1:/c/mymediafolder1, Folder Label 2:/c/mymediafolder2
Not the comma between each different location to scan.
Thanks
Hi,
what command did you use to find the readynas.propoerties file? - super_poussinVirtuosoteake a look in /webroot share then subsonic directory
- Dart_SmurfAspirantHi Super,
thanks for the Airvideo Server add on. it will rock once I can get it up and going. Please if you dont; mind, I am really new to this and would appreaciate any assitance you are wiling to provide. have read a heap of forums today and have just managed to nstall putty which has given me access to the readynas. I am now struggling to understand what commnads I need to use to change the media directory in the readynas.properties file.
when i open airvideo on my ipad, it sees the server but shows no files. I belevie the fix is to redierct the media exisitng media files in the readynas.properties file but am struggling to understand how to do this.
can you help?
Thanks in advance - super_poussinVirtuoso

putty is not needed
simply use notepad++ and open the readynas.properties file located in \\yournasip\webroot\AirVideo :)
(replace yournasip with the ip address of your nas : for example 192.168.1.20) - Dart_SmurfAspirantHi,
Thanks for your reply, I got into the file but am a little confused as to where the ipadress should go. below is the info form the reaynas.properties file
path.ffmpeg = ./AirVideo/ffmpeg
path.mp4creator = /usr/local/bin/mp4creator
path.faac = /usr/local/bin/faac
password =
subtitles.encoding = windows-1250
subtitles.font = Verdana
folders = Media:/c/media/Videos - super_poussinVirtuosothe ip was provided to give you the path to the file :P
what you need to modify is the folders line - Dart_SmurfAspirantthanks, I modified the folders line but it doesn't seem to make any difference. The server folder still shows no files on the ipad.
Not sure where to go fromhere. Any ideas?
Hi Super,
I am not sure what happened, but after having no success with the add on I left it for a few days then went back and tried changing the file line to where my movies are and it picked them up.
Thnaks for the help / advice, this add on rocks. - dox1000AspirantSuper,
I think that many of us here are not having trouble with the plugin finding *at least* some files to play. The problem is that all of the files are invalid, no matter what format they are in, how big they are, or how they were created. Is this simply an update issue, which I can wait for if that is the case, or user error, in which case I am at a loss as to why I cannot get anything to play from my media folder.
Thanks,
Dox - super_poussinVirtuoso
