Quick update to this issue: It turns out that my new user was broken on the back-end. Somehow the way I created the user (through "Email invitation" on the Remote Management page on the ReadyNAS) didn't connect it properly with an IP address? Something along those lines. Netgear Support seems to have worked it out -- I can now log in on Windows Remote with the new user.
