In case You het Permission Denied error, delete folder Downloads and let it recreate via webinterface.

If you changed the permissions of the addons-config share, then it might be possible that transmission can not read its settings-file and thus won't start. In that case, you should make sure that the user "nobody" (without "") has read/write permissions on that share

I configured transmission 2.33.02 last night. I have a question regarding encryption. What is the difference between;

"encryption": 2
"encryption": 1

Does one provide better encryption over the other? Is there any performance impact?

Yes, I've seen this. It doesn't answer my questions completely though but thank you for responding.

Yes. Encryption relies on CPU calculations, so encrypted transfers cost CPU time. This should be weighted against the fact that some use encryption, some don't. If you go with 0 or 2 you can only talk to people who have the same setting, or 1. So for maximum availability of peers, 1 should be your choice. Then you can talk to everyone. (0 = Off, 1 = Preferred, 2 = Forced)

I'd like a 4'th option here actually. Encryption enabled, but unencrypted Preferred. But 1 works well enough.

I was only clarifying, your question sort of indicated that there were alternative encryption methods in use. I'm honestly not up to date on exactly how the encryption works, but to keep snooping eyes out it would seam likely that you follow a set of rules and use a random salt, and simply trade the salt during initiation of the transfer.

Anyway, i guess "better" could mean reliably encrypted, in which case 2 is the only way to go. With any other option your going to have stuff that isn't encrypted.

The Transmission website mentions 2012-02-xx, but that usually means "somewhere in the future"...
