- mattdaleAspirantI have just installed the latest version, 2.71 on my NV2+ however I have a few issues
1. I can log in fine but how do you change the default password?
2. Adding torrents by URL does not work at all
3. Adding torrents by uploading a file seems to work fine but nothing downloads
Is there a log file I can check for issues 2 ad 3 to provide more information? Unless anyone else has experienced the same and has a solution? - mattdaleAspirantI managed to rectify the issues. The first I got from another forum post. The latter two were related to my NAS not taking a default gateway from the console. I had to log in as root and use the route command to add it

Unless anyone else has experienced the same and has a solution? - tylerdolaAspirantI really need help with this transmission install. I bought and downloaded tTransmissionBT_2.71-arm-0.5.0 and I tried to install it today on my Duo V2. It seems to break during the install and not complete.
I see files like this in my init.d and defaults folders-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 451 2011-11-27 11:32 transmission-daemon.dpkg-new
When I rename those files to remove the .dpkg-new, It seems to start, but then the web page complains it can't find index.html
It looks like it's a problem with my dpkg:root@dolanas:/etc/default# apt-get install

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgtk2.0-0 : Depends: libcups2 (>= 1.4.0) but 1.1.14-5woody12.netgear1 is installed
transmission-cli : Depends: transmission-common (= 2.71-0rnx0.5.4) but it is not installed
transmission-daemon : Depends: transmission-common (= 2.71-0rnx0.5.4) but it is not installed
transmission-gtk : Depends: transmission-common (= 2.03-2) but it is not installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.
When I try and -f install I get:Unpacking replacement libcups2 ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libcups2_1.4.4-7+squeeze1_armel.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/libcups.so.2', which is also in package libcupsys2 1.1.14-5woody12.netgear1
configured to not write apport reports
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
I have more logs to show, but I cannot attach files to this thread. I don't want to take over the whole thread, but I can't seem to solve this problem. I consider myself an experienced user of apt-get, dpkg etc, but by no means an expert. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. I did pay for this :(
Thanks! - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTry installing the add-on again.
- Bento90AspirantHi all,
First of all, thank you very much super-poussin for the transmission add-on! Really great. I've used it for a while and have just setup the rpc settings, to access the client when I am not on my own network. In doing this I enabled password restriction and set a username and password. The Web interface works with this fine.
However in the ReadyNAS Frontview it comes up as showing "transmission failed to start". Is this normal when there is a password or is something not working properly?
Many thanks. - tylerdolaAspirantYou know you're screwed when you google your problem, and you get 1 result... you requesting help on the readynas forums a few days prior. :(
I've uninstalled and re-installed the transmission bin many times. I've even done a "find / |grep -i transmission" and deleted everything on the disk related to Transmission.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with a libcups2 circular dependency issue. I will try many things and report back here. - tylerdolaAspirantSUCCESS!
Basically the problem was my transmission wanted "libcups2" to be upgraded, but inside of the file "libcups2_1.4.4-7+squeeze1_armel.deb" was the file libcups.so.2.dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libcups2_1.4.4-7+squeeze1_armel.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/libcups.so.2', which is also in package libcupsys2 1.1.14-5woody12.netgear1
So dpkg was not allowed to overwrite and thus my libcups2 was an old version, and thus my transmission was not allowed to install.
So, I hacked the .deb file and re-packaged it so it would not have that file. Cuz really, is "common unix printing" really an issue on my nas? NO. Eff off dpkg!
After fixing that issue, the 2.71 bin file installed fine :) - ijusticeAspirantI have been using transmission for about a year and recently downloaded a newer version and now when I go to the web interface setup I have to type in a user and password. When I click on "create a torrent" I enter my un and pw and it works. When I use the same un and pw for the interface it does not work. I am using a readynas duo. I don't know how to write code but this is just pretty frustrating. I am using version 2.42.
- JarnoGGuideI think the two passwords are different. I think you have to use your Frontview un/pw to make a torrent while you need the un/pw set in the settings.json file to access the webUI of Transmission. Check the website where you got Transmission from for the default un/pw.
To change it, you have to edit the seetings.json file which can be found here:
\\[IP of NAS]\c\addons-config\Transmission\transmission-daemon
when you log in as admin - legionerAspirantmdgm, as I understand, you are related to developers or you can affect them.
There is a standard debian-way to prevent a package from being updated:echo "apache2 hold" | dpkg --set-selections
You can set on-hold critical or modified packages "out of the box" and save neurons of many users.
