Planning to use Replicate

Greetings,

I currently have a ReadyNAS 516 and I'm planning to setup Replicate.

With that said, I need to purchase the ReadyNAS that will be stored off site and replicated too.
What are the guidelines to use Replicate? Just OS6 or newer? Or does it have to be the exact same device? Can I buy something less expensive?

Thanks in advance

Cheers,

Nick

I would go with another OS6 device. You could use a cheaper model e.g. RN316 if you want.

How big is your data volume and how full is it?
  • Thanks for the quick reply.

The current volume formatted is 5.5tb
    The current used is 2.8tb
The customer believes they may have about 0.8tb of duplicate data that we will be organizing as well.

All we plan on using the new drive for is replication off site. I want this install to go smooth as pie as I've never done this before.

    What are your thoughts?

    Should work very smoothly.

You should do the first backup on-site then move the backup NAS off-site.
  • Again, thanks for the quick reply.

I think I'll go with the 316 and save a few bucks.

I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best. :D

    Many thanks!
