You can access the data volume by connecting disk 1 to a Windows PC, and installing r-linux for windows. http://www.r-tt.com/free_linux_recovery/
That might be safer than trying OS reinstall, etc.

Thanks StephenB, I have already tried R-Linux amonst others with no success. I will try again tomorrow using disk 1.

On the duo v1, the "parity disk" is mirrored, but there is no data volume partition. Usually the "parity disk" is disk 2, but that depends on the install history.

The install was done a very long time ago. I would guess I went with the default options.

R-Linx has scanned and found my data. It is going to take a long time but I satidfied. Did a test on a small part of the data and it has recovered. So I restarted it and left it to do it's thing.
