What firmware are you running on the NAS? If it is 4.1.x, then you have a v1; if it is 5.3.x you have a v2.
It does look like you have data on the NAS. Have you tried accessing it with finder using SMB? You could also try enabling FTP, and using that to offload your data (using an FTP client like FileZilla).
I suggest putting the full log zip file into cloud storage (google drive, icloud, etc), and asking the mods ( JohnCM_S or Marc_V ) to analyze them for you. Don't post the link to the logs publicly - send them a private message (PM) using the envelope icon in the upper right of the forum page.

Hi thanks for message.
Firstly I think it's 4.1 I can't remember how to check this info. How do I go about accessing the drive with SMB?
How do I go about zipping the log if I can't download it. I get this error message when I try to download all logs:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
<payload>Empty No Support</payload>
Thanks

Access via SMB:// gives this error.
The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.
Thanks

It's shown in the web admin interface and by RAIDar.

Normally clicking on the download link will download a zip file. There are a couple of reasons that might not be working for you.

Access via SMB:// gives this error.SMB:// is the way, though it is worth trying CIFS:// as it might give a different result.
It sounds like the first priority is to offload the files from the NAS.
One option is to contact paid support (my.netgear.com). They'd have you reboot the NAS in tech support mode, which would let them access it remotely. Ask about per-incident support (which would run $75-$100 USD). Don't sign up for the gearhead support - that doesn't cover what you'd need.
Another option is to attempt to enable FTP on the NAS (installing it as a service, and enabling it for the shares). If that works, you could offload the data using FileZilla.
If you can format a USB drive as NTFS, you could also try to set up a NAS backup job that would back up the shares to the USB drive (which would be connected to the NAS). Formatting the drive as USB would require access to a Windows PC, or purchasing NTFS software for your Mac (Paragon does have a package for this).

The multiple improper shut-downs, which trigger a re-sync, are something that should not be occurring. Are they something you are causing, power outages with no UPS, or just occurring on their own? At some point (maybe already, given your problem), the NAS may be unable to recover from this.

Hello again, busy week and first chance to have a look at all the suggestions.
Thanks for all replies, I'm going to try and step through them,
Firstly Front view states the firmware is 1.00a043, I have downloaded 4.1, should I install it our might it cause more problem at this stage?
I have tried to enable ftp share within frontview but it won't let me and keeps resetting to disabled.
AFP sharing is enabled for guests and the original afp share shortcut is still in my sidebar, when I open it I can see my two volume mounts but the folders are empty. If I open the afp path from the 'connect to server' window (afp://nasname(AFP).afppovertcp._.tcp.local) I get a window asking me which volumes I want to mount but the tow volume sare greyed out.
The multiple shutdowns are probably me trying to force (power button) the NAS to reboot and perform the requested volume scan.
I've looked to buy a 2TB external drive/usb drive but i'm wary that it won't be configurable with the current firmware?
Thanks again for the help
Kieran
