ReadyNAS Photos II is available under Add-Ons > Available in Frontview on the ReadyNAS NVX/Ultra/Ultra Plus/Pro (x86) and is pre-installed on the new Duo/NV+ v2 (ARM). Unfortunately it is not available on the v1 (Sparc). To tell if you have a v1 or a v2 see How to tell whether I have a Duo v1 or Duo v2 or NV+ v1 or NV+ v2
ReadyNAS Photos II is dependent on the NetGear server photos.readynas.com but the files are stored locally on the NAS.
ReadyNAS Photos I is EOL and this is an old thread. It would probably be better if discussing Photos II relying on photos.readynas.com to use this thread: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=145&t=56129
