ReadyNAS Ultra Perl upgrade?
I'm trying to install a plug-in for Logitech Media Server that requres a relatively recent version of Perl (ShairTunes2W, fyi). My ReadyNAS appears to be running Perl 5.008008 (f/w 4.2.30), which is anything but. Is it possible to upgrade the installed version of Perl to something more recent? If so, is there a recommended version and/or process?

Hello Tarl,
It may be possible but this is beyond Netgear support already.
Perhaps wait for other community members who can share their thoughts.

It is not a good idea to upgrade Perl because it's used so much by the OS. But, you can install a parallel version. This may help: Install parallel Perl on Debian. As for how to get your LMS to use the parallel version, I can't really help.

Another option would be to put OS6 on your Ultra (doing so is unsupported and does require a factory reset - wipes all data, settings, everything - so you would need to backup your data first).

Hm, sounds like an interesting option – I'll investigate. Thanks for the heads up!
