Root Access Denied with SSH Enabled

I am trying to get Crashpan running on my Ultra 4. To do this I need Root access via SSH with PuTTY. I have installed EnableRootSSH but when I log in as Root with my normal Admin password I get an access denied message, I have also tried the default 'netgear1' but get the same access denied.

I have tried reinstalling EnableRootSSH, using ToggleSSH to disable it and re-enable it but every time I get the same result. I am also setting up an new NV+2 and have been able to get SSH root access on it, so the problem seems to be with my Ultra rather than with my proceedure

Any help would be appreciated

  • Thanks for all your help. Just tried that without success I'm afraid. I'm puzzled that this is causing me so much bother as I never had SSH enabled till yesterday so haven't edited anything I shouldn't have. Unless one of the addons has messed with settings in the background.
  • I don't know if it provides any pointers but I have just tried to change my admin password and even though the ReadyNAS tells me that it has changed, when I log out and back in, it still only accepts the old one.
