Dec 17, 2016Setting proxy server on ReadyNAS...Possible?
Hi
I am using transmission on my ReadyNAS duo v2 and I wanted to know if I can use a proxy server on my readynas.
I am trying to use some torrent sites which are blocked via my ISP but can be accessed if I use a proxy server. Is this possible?
Anyone had any issues with using TorrentDay with Transmission on ReadyNAS Duo?
Thanks

Hi ranjb,
I am updating the thread to still make it available for someone who might have a similar setup.

I do not understand how proxy server will help you bypass IPS.
Your path before setup proxy server:
transmission -> IPS -> tracker or P2P connection
Your path after setup proxy server:
transmission -> proxy server -> IPS -> tracker or P2P connection
The IPS will see your traffic after proxy server.

Something along these lines I think: https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/socks5/utorrent/

VPN is clear approach if something exists after IPS for trafic decryption (like nordvpn.com). And proxy is not required here just VPN channel from NAS/router to nordvpn.com

ranjb,
I switched from Transmission to qBittorrent for the same reason. qBittorrent does support proxy servers and I have been using it for almost a year. Good luck with your issue. It is found here: http://apps.readynas.com/pages/?page_id=9
