Transmission unable to download torrents
I have been trying to get this to work for a while now. I can get the add-on installed (unsure on settings). I can get into the user interface. I'm finding the torrent I want to download, I have been trying with demonoid. I copy and paste the url in. Push start and nothing happens at all. No error message, just the add torrent pop-up disapears.
Any suggestions would be great. I've been trying to work this out for a while.

- HERBIEOAspirantHi G man
is the nas connected to a router and if it is does the router support upnp,
because if it does not support upnp you will need to forward the port for transmission. - G_man1AspirantHi Herbio
Thanks for your help. It is connected to a router and port forwarding is something that I have missed. I will give it a go.
Is it as simple as copy and paste the url of the web page of the torrent you wish to download?
How do user names and passwords of the torrent site you are downloading from work (Eg. demonoid where need to be a member to download)?
Thanks again - HERBIEOAspirantAll you need to do is copy and paste the url of the torrent not the web page,
have you downloaded torrents before ? because if you are putting the url of the web page in thats why its not working.
- G_man1AspirantI have download torrents before but I have very limited experience. I have only ever used my windows laptop, bit torrent and a handful of torrent sites.
I did a port scan for the port that I used in the setup and the scan said that the port was responding. I'm assuming I don't need to port forward in the router settings.
The main points of confusion are, I don't seem to have an option to download in the transmission interface. If I click on add torrent, the next pop up is to upload torrent either by browsing or via URL. If I paste in URL as per your previous MSG nothing happens. I must be missing something. I also downloaded a transmision remote gui as I thought this may help and I could not get that to connect either. The interface has never asked for a password or login. I thought this was strange as all the setup guides I read recommended to change the password. - HERBIEOAspirantWell the way you are adding torrents is ok, but are you pasting url for .torrent file or url for the web page its located on ?
and transmission should prompt you for user and password, default is admin and password. - HERBIEOAspirantThe url should look something like this > (http://example.com/download/386387353/ubuntu.torrent)
- G_man1AspirantOk cool, now I'm almost there. I can get torrents to start downloading now. After a short time I'm getting an error : permission denied /c/media/bittorrent/the torrent I'm downloading.
I also can't get the password and login to work. I tried to change the setting "rpc-authentication-required": false, to "rpc-authentication-required": true, This created a login and that worked with my password but I could not get the transmission add on to start again in front view unless I changed settings back to false.
Thanks again for your help. - G_man1AspirantThankyou both very much. I finally got this up and running 100%.
For more information for other people like me I was missing this step only on my share permissions.
Tick the box "Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders in this share to the above settings. This option is useful in cases where you are changing security levels and need to workaround file access problems."
I also changed this setting "rpc-authentication-required": false" to "rpc-authentication-required": true" in settings.json folder. Front view prompted that transmission was unable to start but the light went green and the transmission server was clearly working and could only be accessed with a log in and password.
