•HTTPS trackers are unsupportedVersion 3.0 alpha (build 22789)
- Added fields to the About box in the web UI to present the external IP address and UDP/TCP ports assigned by a UPnP router to the server
- Added speculative fix for crash on POSIX platforms occurring when any configurable directories (e.g., active, completed, temporary, autoload, request) contain Unicode characters
- Fixed documentation by changing feed_id to feed-id in two places
µTorrent Server 3.0 alpha build 22708 (for Linux)
- Added daemon argument which directs the server to run in its own
process group- Added usage argument which directs the server to display the set of
valid command-line arguments before exiting - server also prints error
and usage messages before exiting if it detects at least one
unrecognized command-line argument- Added settings finish_cmd and state_cmd to provide a way to invoke
asynchronous processes for torrent lifecycle events- The add torrent dialog in the web UI now allows the user to choose
which download directory to use for the torrent being added- Correct JSON output is now generated for the list-dirs action request
- The name of the directory created by extracting the product archive now
includes utorrent instead of bittorrent- Removed ul_slots_per_torrent setting since it no longer has a function
- Added ut_webui_dir setting in the configuration file, which specifies
the directory containing the webui.zip archive or the unarchived files
to be served for the web UI- Added pidfile argument which permits the specification of a file to be
created by the utserver process which will contain the ID of the
utserver process- Added logmask setting in the configuration file which permits logging
to be configured (and subsequently modified as part of handling a
hangup signal), and removed support for LOGMASK environment variable- The server rereads the configuration file upon receipt of a hangup
signal or when creating or moving a file named rcf.utmr in the
dir_request directory - see the cautions in the user manual about
sending a hangup signal when attempting to change the value of
dir_request- Added settings admin_name and admin_password to allow administrators to
define initial non-default credentials for authenticating to the server
via the HTTP interface- Fixed documentation by changing filter_id to filter-id in one place

- Dewdman42VirtuosoPeople have been begging for that for a while, but don't hold your breathe.
dsm posted some instructions for how to get the 64bit version of lately utorrent working. check that out. - valmikiAspirantI did see the link from dsm, but I have zero linux skills unfortunately, if there was a Windows route I be tempted to give it a go - I feel so lame :-( lol!
- Dewdman42VirtuosoI just saw a new build of utorent was released also and they mentioned something about old vs new libc, so.....maybe give these a go to see if they work. Particularly the debian build is worth a try. I didn't get a chance to try it yet. You have to use ssh to copy the binary to /usr/local/utorrent/, then just start and stop it from frontview.
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=102110 - valmikiAspirantHi dsm, I saw your posts on the utorrent thread
Did you have any luck on getting the newer version of utorrent up and working? Cheers buddy, thanks for trying...
p.s. a tip to anyone using 2.0.0, I couldn't get the file priority working on the web interface for weeks (and just put up with the fact I'd have to download the whole torrent, instead of individually choosing files), and then today I thought I'd try the interface on Internet Explorer instead of Firefox and it works! Sweet, Lol. - dsm1212ApprenticeApparently they stopped building Debian. The Ubuntu 64 bit versions now require the new glibc. So the only newish one that runs is the 64bit one that I posted instructions on how to get going, but it's only for units with 64 bit support. Fortunately it runs pretty well. Once in a while I was getting a crash on starting a torrent download from a URL that I was doing from my iPad. I switched to using Dropbox into a directory that utorrent watches and auto downloads and that is working well. I think there may be an older 3.0 32 bit version that someone else posted a link to though.
Steve - sup3rm4nAspirantDSM, I stepped in to a problem on the way.
# Build 64 bit ssl shared libs
Download the big netgear GPL source archive for 4.2.19 and extract the openssl directory.
cd to the openssl directory
chmod +x util/*.sh
./config shared
make
make test
make install
This part gave out error after ./config shared
First not permision, changed directory permissions, then error "sh: make: command not found" at ./config shared.
Have any idea? - dsm1212ApprenticeSorry, I've been away. I think the error is saying it can't find the "make" command. Did you install the build environment? I don't recall if I included that in my instructions or if I "assumed" it. You get this by running:
apt-get install build-essential
steve - widde1AspirantGents,
A lot of information in this thread, can someone please help with below questions:
- Does Utorrent work on ReadyNas Ultra 2? If Yes, which build shall i use?
- Please explain briefly how to install
- Does it support RSS feed reading > auto download > unrar?
Best regards - an0nymousAspirantCould someone guide me where I can find a installation guide ? or help me setup my NAS with utorrent.
I have installed and started the service but cant seem to get the GUI website to load up.
Please help
Cheers. - dsm1212ApprenticeFwiw, I have much faster Internet access now than I did a year ago so I thought I'd try transmission again. For the same files I'm getting much faster rates with transmission. Not sure why but I've switched back to that now. Maybe transmission is just better at high speeds? I've got a 50Mbit/s connection and with transmission I'm seeing 6MB/s transfers! I never can get utorrent over ~2.8MB/s. Even if transmission is reporting the rates wrong I'm still getting the files in much less time by wall clock.
