xbox 360 streaming with twonky

Hi, my first post here after picking up a ReadyNas Duo. I spent ages last night trying to get media streaming working from my ReadyNas Duo to my Xbox 360. Finally, after about 4 hours googling etc it worked and I managed to stream all files. Brilliant.

I turned everything on again today and guess what? I now can't see anything from my xbox.

I can happily browse the ReadyNas through windows, I can view the FrontView and I can see the twonky interface at :9000.

From the xbox I select pictures and then come to select a source and I can see my Laptop, the Twonky Server on my laptop and indeed MusicServer:TMS, the twonky server on the ReadyNas. However when I try to connect to it I get nothing for a long time and ultimately "Can't connect to the PC, A Firewall may be blocking the connection. Do you want to test your network connection?" from the xbox.

This was all with the latest twonky addon 6.0.31RC6 I believe.

I've just tried downgrading to the 6.0.30 release and now the damn thing says my trial licence has expired. Unless I can get this working on the trial, i'm hardly going to spend more money for the twonky server because I can't see that it's going to meet my needs.

Am I being unrealistic expecting to be able to simply stream music, photos and videos from a nas to my 360? I thought that was the idea with these things, feels like I've bought a cheapo nas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Back to googling and searching the forum for answers.

Lewis

  • Just gone back to the latest Twonky Addon 6.0.30RC6 and at least it seems my trial hasn't expired now.

It's happily updating and scanning for files. I can see the MusicServer:TMS on the xbox but it just fails every time i try to connect. :(
  • i had exactly the same problem, the xbox took a while to show the twonky server on the source list. i recently changed my router and magicly its working like a charm appears as first in the source list and really fast! try using another router or even a wired direct conenction to see if the problem goes if so then you know what you have to change!
