Access Problems on ReadyNAS Duo
Hi, I have an access issue with my ReadyNAS duo which has been working fine (as far as I know) for some time. It is running RAIDiator 4.1.15 [1.00a043] on my home network with two networked Windows 1...

Microsoft is deprecating SMB 1.0 (which is the version of Windows File Sharing that your old Duo uses).
Go into "run windows features on or off", and look for the SMB 1.0 client. If it is disabled, then enable it and restart the PC.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. You were right, the SMB 1.0 client was not enabled.
Unfortunately, despite enabling it and restarting the PC, the problem persists.

Can you access the shares by entering \\nas-ip-address in the file explorer address bar? Use the real IP address, and be careful to use the correct slash direction.
Also, check that the PC is classifying the network connection as "private", and that the workgroup is set to match the NAS workgroup name.

Again, thanks for the quick response. The network is Private and Workgroups correct.
But, things have moved on. I can access the NAS shares using both the IP address (which I couldn't do before) and the NAS Hostname. Thus my outlook backup proceess is back working as it uses a Hostname based path. It may be, if the need arises, that I will need to enter paths directly if the browse function doesn't work.
I've just been able to map individual shares as network drives so there's another workaround.
Maybe all of that gives you a clue as to why clicking on the NAS icon gives an error. Anyway I appear to be back up and running.
