Accessing the Nas via internet Https
Hi I just got my NAS 312 works great ,what I want to know is how do I access it via the internet let say im at work ..I don't want to use the readycloud or any cloud base services .
my router is a Netgear R6300 .
Do I need to buy something from Dyn.com the remote access package and added it to my router?
Do I need to buy a SSL key?
Domain name?
can I setup user accounts that can access it also?
please let me know a step by step as im kind of perplexed when looking in the user guide there is not much in it that shows you how to really set it up and what is need .
Thank you

- chirpaLuminaryYou can setup Port Forwarding from your router to your NAS, with port 443/TCP.

You will likely want to setup a Static DHCP reservation on the router, so the NAS always gets the same IP; or use Static IPs.
Then, if you want an easy to remember hostname (if your Internet IP changes often), you can look into DynDNS,etc services.
Since you just got the NAS, you eligible for the free 90 days phone support. You can try contacting NETGEAR to help walk you through the configuration. - BLix1AspirantThis is what I get and I have nothing configured on the router except IP Reservation's
The specified port(s) are being used by other configurations. Please check your configurations of USB Readyshare, Remote Management, Port Forwarding, Port Triggering, UPnP Port Mapping table, RIP, and Internet connection type.
This screen will automatically return to the previous screen in a few seconds...
Also do I have to add something in the HTTPS option settings in the NAS I see the port 1 is at 443 and I can add in port 2 and there is a ssl key host - BLix1Aspirantok found the issues I had to disable UPnP on the router
- BLix1AspirantSo I enter the NAS Ip in the port forwarding option with port 433 ,right? internal and external.
- BLix1AspirantFrom outside my network or do I have to do the Dnydns thinging
- BLix1Aspirantsorry for the typ= o I meant 443 lol
do I have to change a few things in the https option on the nas? after entering the DynDNS on the router? - chirpaLuminaryDynDNS will just let you associate an easy to remember hostname, instead of remembering your constantly changing Internet IP. So you could have blixhome.dyndns.org that always points to the current IP. Then you would use https://blixhome.dyndns.org/ remotely to access the system.
- BLix1Aspirantok I guess i will get a DynDNS ,Casue just by adding the NAS IP to the port forwarding dosnt work from outside the network.
Casue like in the first post all i want to do is be able to access it anywere i am in the world via the internet .
Is this the right thing to do? and the in the nas it self are there things in the https setting's to change ? or any other setting in the nas. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserForwarding 443 to the NAS should work, as long as you use the external IP address when accessing. DynDNS just lets you use a name instead of an IP address (which also is useful because the external IP address will change from time to time).
