added 3x8tb but only showing 7.27tb of data

Hi,   I just finished building a new nas setup and intially started with 2x8tb drives.  I undestand that in Raid 1 the drives are mirrored so I get a 1:1 copy and have only 8tb visible (7.3tb after...

    Yes.  Wait for the resync to complete, you should see the full array size then.

     

    Note it is displayed in TiB, not TB, so it should be shown as ~14.5 TiB.

Thank you.  Ill report back in around 45hrs.

 

Also. my readynas dashboard reports it as TB so I was just quoting that - I didnt know about TiB so ill be doing some reading! thank you!

No. The label is TB (1000*1000*1000*1000 bytes) but it actually is TiB (1024*1024*1024*1024 bytes).

 

8 TB is actually 7.27 TiB.  Google will convert the units (try typing "8 TB in TiB").

    Hi,  

     

    drives are finally added and I can see my storage now. Exactly as you said 14.54TiB now available for data storage and the remaing reserved as redundancy.
