Adding new 4TB disk in JBOD

Hi there,

I have 2 WD 4TB disks. If I create a JBOD volume with one, the option to 'Expand' is greyed out on the other.

I can add two volumes, I can add spanning RAID0, however I cannot create a spanning JBOD. I have certainly done this before on this unit, albeit with a 2TB and 2x1TB disks.

The disks are both functional, the states are reported as 'ONLINE', I have tried formatting, factory resetting the unit to no avail. I have created the initial JBOD volume on both and tried to expand into the other without success.

Can anyone help?

  • Nevermind, resolved 5 minutes after posting.

'Expand' was unavailable, but I did not think to click 'Add group, which grouped the disks into a single JBOD volume.

      Hi DavidL82

JBOD is available only on volumes consisting of a single hard disk, so expanding JBOD is not possible.

JBOD can be concatenated or spanned through forming a single logical volume or LUN. More information here.
