AFP auto mount on ReadyNAS startup (OSX 10.5.5)
Hi there
Is it possible to get some of the shares automatically mounted, when the NAS ist started up? Or even better as soon as the ReadyNas is visible in the Finder? This would also allow me to connect my macbook to the network when the ReadyNas is already running and get my shares auto mounted...
Thx in advance!

- KillerBobAspirantThat issue has been reported long ago and Chewbacca has promised a fix in the next FW.
KB - petespeeAspirantI can confirm this bug is appearing in my setup as well.....
Just set the ReadyNas Pro Pioneer to turn off at midnight and on at 6am for the first time.
This morning, my MacPro could not connect to the AFP Shares. SMB shares were fine.
Stopped the AFP service, restarted it, and immediately the AFP shares appeared.
Peter - benfrainAspirantAnyone know yet if the same problem exists in 10.6?

Still there fore me on a MacMini & MBP. - erik3dAspirantI can confirm the same issue again. After I shutdown / restart my readyNAS Pro Pioneer, the AFP and sometimes SMB, won't initialize properly, so I have to start/stop the AFP/SMB service for my mac's to be able to connect to the shares.
Is this 'bug' gonna be fixed on a future release of FW ? - CharlesLaCourAspirantI am running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and I was using autofs to automount shares.
I created the directory /afp
I added a line to the /etc/auto_master file like this:/afp auto_afp -ghost
Created the file /etc/auto_afp with something like:backup -fstype=afp afp://mynas/backup
mac -fstype=afp afp://mynas/mac
You can reboot or restart the autofs by running the command:sudo automount -vc
At this point I was able to use /afp/backup to access the backup share or /afp/mac to access the mac share.
The "-ghost" on the line in the /etc/auto_master file basically puts the "backup" and "mac" directory in the /afp directory regardless of if the share is mounted or not. Without it you would no see the backup and mac directories until you accessed them and they were mounted which would make it imposable to browse to the directory.
This was working but now that I am testing it again it is not functioning. - manfredellAspirant

I have found the same issue that I often have to turn off and then turn on again the AFP service after a restart of the NAS.
This joins the other AFP problems in this NAS. - snipesAspirantSame problem here with a Pro running 4.2.5. After the ReadyNAS reboots I can't mount my AFP shares until I connect to the admin site and stop and start AFP services.

It's a "design feature" of the Pro. Apparently it'll be fixed with the next firmware release - but there is no word on when that might be. Two months ago I was told it was on the way. Still no sign. Frustrating! - HiddenWolfAspirant

I'd consider it a game-breaking bug, as it forces me to turn off the auto-sleep/wake power management features, which is wasteful. I'd rather have my disks safely spun down and parked at night anyway.
