Alert email settings lost...

I'm running a Pro6 with 4.2.19. I'm having a problem with it losing the alert email settings.

I have the Pro6 configured to send email after a nightly backup completes. After a while I noticed that it stopped sending email.

My email provider is Yahoo!, and my domain is 'sbcglobal.net'. As I look at the existing page in Frontview, I see:

Alert Contact 1: <set to proper email@domain name>
Email Provider: SBC Yahoo DSL
User: <proper email@domain name>
Password: ..... (also set properly)

Then I click to show advanced options...
SMTP Server: 'Yahoo' (greyed out)
SMTP port: 'yahoo.c' (greyed out)
From: <proper email@domain name>

It looks like something screwed up and when the page/program reparsed the config, it was 'off be one'. Note that it used to work. Not sure what I did or what happened to make it misread the config. Also note that rebooting the device doesn't seem to make it reparse the config properly.

  • Thanks for the tip. Please take a look at my initial post. There is a visible corruption to the configuration as shown in the Frontview page. So I think the problem is what is corrupting the config, not any network or reachability issue.
  • Ok, email settings just got corrupted last night without any iTunes patch/config. Sorry for red herring. Now, how to figure out what is corrupting it?

Next guess will be to send a bunch of emails manually via front view and see if I can recreate the problem after a certain number of emails?
  • Bump... I know that the holidays are a busy time. I was hoping someone might provide a suggestion for debugging this problem. Any ideas on how to proceed?

I'm really missing my email alerts...
  • I just wanted to bump up the topic and add some more new information...

When I configure all of the email settings manually, then the configuration corruption issue appears to go away. It is a work around, but it renders the convenience of pre-configured settings for Yahoo! useless.
  • The alerts generated from the backups are still working after more than a month. So it is clearly some bug with the processing of 'pre-configured' email settings that is corrupting those settings.

How do I file a bug report?
