are Power loss, reboots logged anyware? no alerts?

HI,
I have ReadyNas516 without ups because it failed few days ago. So yesterday I was watching a movie via plex and then we lost power.

When the power returned , I turned on reayNAS and all was fine - I scrubbed data volume to be sure however, There is nothing in the log hinting about this event and I never received any alerts about any power loss, reboot, or improper shutdown. NONE at all.

The thing is when power came back the unit simply turns on, so without a proper notification I could have multiple power failures without even knowing. By the way I do other get email alerts.

Does this happen to any one and how do I find out? If I am missing anything please let me know.

thanks.

In the status log we log safe shutdowns and reboots including safe shutdowns triggered by a UPS. We also log when the background service is started after a reboot but we don't send an email about that. If we automatically trigger a scrubbing after the system is booted again we also log those.

You can examine the contents of the logs zip file for more info, but the detailed logs are rotated and/or truncated over time.

Thank you for a reply, most of the logs you mentioned I did see. Please note in my case there was a power outage and thus no showdown actually occurred - so all I do see is a service starting in the log. In my opinion this isn't enough and it should be flagged by the system as a major event.

Hoping this could be added in the coming updates at some point...

    Again, appreciate the response.
