Are there any benefits to using home folders?
I am currently in the process of resetting my 314. When I originally set it up 3 years ago (fw 6.1/6.2), I decided that it was more sensible to create a share for each user rather than using home fol...

i am going thro the same thing..
i used homes on my ultra 4+ for 10+ years now
but i love readycloud and my new 528X and homes are limted from some nice fetures that i like.
and yes the readycloud outige kinda suked .. but was told it was fixed.
i think i am going to go the make a share for each user rout my self this time.
i like the point that the files wont go away if the account was removed, and i dont have any truble backing up or restorring so far i dont see many people use homes as i would think.
also i am not using ANY local users short of admin when i nead to.
if you log in localy and use you readycloud info it will log you in just fine so you have 1 home 1 user name and password.

If you have a lot of user churn, then using the automatic home folders certainly makes it a lot easier on the admin. Otherwise, I also recommend you manually create folders for each user instead, especially if you use both local and ReadyCloud accounts for the same user. Note that they cannot have the same name as a user, but something like user1-home for user1 certainly works.

It does appear you want to use the same username and password for both local and readycloud account. We do not recommend doing since both will create a home share with the same name too and that will create a problem.
