Audit Logs
Sir , we are using Ready NAS 4312 ,
In this we need Audit logs , ex : which users / ip no has crested the file , read the file and deleted the file in a share folder .
We have configured the Audit log option , we are not getting proper logs .
It is not showing the deleted logs
when a file is created its shows as "root " users and does not show any ip number of the system or the user name .
Kindly help me on as solution

Hello!
For your ReadyNAS 4312, the issue with incomplete audit logs is likely a configuration problem. The logs showing "root" and not capturing IP addresses or deletions suggest that SMB/CIFS auditing isn't properly enabled or that user permissions are misconfigured. To fix this, you should enable detailed auditing specifically for your SMB/CIFS shares in the ReadyNAS admin interface. Additionally, ensure all clients are authenticating with specific user accounts, as using guest access can cause logs to default to the "root" user. Finally, check that your ReadyNAS firmware is up to date, as updates often include fixes for logging and security.
