Backup to removable encrypted hard drive?

I think if I remember correctly I read somewhere in one of the initial reviews or documents NetGear released about the new products that they plan to add encryption support in 6.1.0.
Depending how this works backing up to the NetGear EDA500 might be a good option though one would need to hear more about how this will work before one could be definite about that. Then you could perhaps power down the EDA500 and take it off-site.
As for external hard drive docks I'm not a fan of using those for "backup". It is not recommended to handle disks bare regularly as you can easily cause damage through electrostatic discharge without realising it or wear out SATA connectors through excessive pulls.
