Using with Backup to Disk Applications
128 TopicsRsync just hangs..
So I have three shares on a ReadyNAS 3200 that I'd like to sync with a ReadyNAS Pro 4 which is used as an in-house backup, before the data is eventually backed up onto external HDDs and removed off-site. The share's contain a fairly sizeable amount of data 100s of GB. No matter what I do, I cannot get the 3200 to backup the three shares to the Pro 4. Ideally I'd like to get the first data backed up using a standard NFS backup then switch to a Rsync incremental backup that will run every few hours each day. When attempting to backup using NFS shares from the Pro "pulling" data from the 3200, it never gets started, just hangs. If I "push" the data from the 3200 to the Pro, it starts and very slowly copies some files over, then the 3200 Frontview stops responding and the backup simply halts. If I try to do the first backup using Rsync, no matter which way around I try it, they always both get stuck at "receiving incremental file list" and while neither locks-up or fails to respond, nothing actually happens (I've left it for 7 days+ once and still nothing).6KViews0likes17CommentsHow to Enable Secure Signature on ReadyNAS 626X
I am trying to back up to an SMB share on my ReadyNAS 626X (there was no choice to select this model above) and keep receiving errors. Sometimes I get a good backup, sometimes not. The backup software provider, Altaro, suggested this KB article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2686098/system-error-2148073478-extended-error-or-invalid-signature-error-mess This implies I need to get an update from Netgear allowing secure signing. How do I get this update and/or how do I enable secure signing on my ReadyNAS?1KViews0likes1CommentReady Nas 102 - Password Failure
I am the administrator for my NAS-102 and I am trying to backup my PC to our network using the windows backup feature in Windows 10. I have followed the directions in this link: https://kb.netgear.com/24913/How-do-I-back-up-my-Windows-PC-to-a-ReadyNAS-OS-6-system-using-Windows-Backup-and-Restore I keep receiving a message to say that my credentials are not valid. I am using the credentials for my NAS. I have also tried a password reset and using the password that was given to me and this too does not work? Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are running without backups.1.5KViews0likes4CommentsActive Directory access to Domain Administrator broken after 6.9.0 Firmware update.
So we recently purchased the ReadyNAS 214(it arrived 10-20-217) for the office. I initially updated it to the latest firmware. After the array build completed I 'joined' it to the Active Directory domain, created a single SMB share and gave the Domain Administrator account and the Domain Admins Security Group Read/Write access to it. The 2012 Domain Member server has been able to use Macrium Reflect to do full bare-metal and differential backups to it until yesterday's 6.9.0 firmware update. Now... no matter, it can no longer touch the share at ALL. Have I now LOST all of the backup data?! How do I FIX this??Solved2.6KViews0likes5CommentsHow do I allow multiple users backup windows/mac to my NAS, but not be able to delete files from it

The backup job in question has been running flawlessly 3 times a day for the last year.(alongside a similar job which is not mis-behaving) The only change I have made since this began is installing OS 6.7.4 The settings are: The Source Type is "volume" and the Name is "volume: data" Everything else is blank. The Destination is Type "remote" and the Name is "remote: RSync Server", Host is "localhost" and Path is "USB_HDD_1/NAS_IAN_Backup" Under Advanced compression is disabled and Remove deleted files on target is checked. The USB Drive is NTFS format. The odd behaviour is as follows: The log shows the log as starting and completing within one second !!! and reports Backup Status: Success Which is clearly not correct. The log also shows the following: sending incremental file list sent 733 bytes received 41 bytes 1,548.00 bytes/sec total size is 2,930 speedup is 3.79 S): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/Documents, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/Downloads, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/Ians_Stuff, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/Music, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/PC_Backup, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/Pictures, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/Recovered_Data, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/Transmission, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/Videos, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/couchpotato, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_set_file(data/sickrage, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Operation not supported (95) data/Documents/ data/Downloads/ data/Ians_Stuff/ data/Music/ data/PC_Backup/ data/Pictures/ data/Recovered_Data/ data/Transmission/ data/Videos/ data/couchpotato/ data/sickrage/ sent 838 bytes received 1,308 bytes 4,292.00 bytes/sec total size is 2,930 speedup is 1.37 rsync error: some files/attrs were not transferred (see previous errors) (code 23) at main.c(1183) [sender=3.1.1] I am totally stumped by this and am hoping someone here can help me or better still provide a solutionSolved11KViews0likes20CommentsConfiguring a backup job for a windows PC. ReadyNAS Duo
I'm trying to configure a backup job in Frontview backup my ReadyNAS to a USB drive on my PC. (Connecting the drive to the NAS to not work well for some reason.) I've entered my machine name in the host and the share name in the path. However, when I test the connection, it fails. I made surethat file sharing on the PC was enabled. What am I missing?Solved4.2KViews0likes4CommentsAlternative hostname on RN104 - I set as NAS1 but Acronis finds //RAPHAELCBOOKAIR.HOME/
I have two ReadyNAS 104s, with hostnames imaginatively called NAS1 and NAS2. These appear as such in both Windows explorer and on the web browser page tab when the admin pages are open. However, when I installed Acronis True Image today it listed them as //RAPHAELCBOOKAIR.HOME/ and //ANDROID-B28EE62120020144.HOME/ respectively. Pasting these into the browser URL slot opens the relevant device, and double clicking lists the shares, so clearly the NAS units understand the 'code' but I can not find anything like it in the various setup pages. Does anybody know what this means and how I can change it to the actual hostnames? Both have latest 6.6.1 firmware.3.4KViews0likes7Comments
