BIOS version number and date on the Pro 6
I recently got a Pro 6 and did the upgrade to OS6.5.0 RC2 beta.
I ordered a Core2 Duo E7600 to upgrade the CPU in the Pro 6 and did some checking to be sure I am on the latest BIOS.
This is what I see in the bios_ver.log:
/sys/class/dmi/id/product_version
::::::::::::::
07/26/2010 FLAME6-MB V2.0
/sys/class/dmi/id/bios_date
::::::::::::::
07/26/2010
::::::::::::::
/sys/class/dmi/id/bios_version
::::::::::::::
080014
This is from this thread: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/BIOS-Update-with-OS-6/td-p/935323
Q: I see this: "I have a Pro 6, "product_version=10/03/2008 FLAME6-MB V1.6" "bios_version=080014", any idea if this can be upgraded? Thanks
A: The answer is yes it can be updated.
The question I have is why is the BIOS version of 080014 exactly the same even though the dates of "10/03/2008" and "07/26/2010" are different?
Is the date associated with the motherboard or the BIOS?
What I really want to know is do I really have the latest BIOS installed as my CPU upgrade needs to be on the latest BIOS.
Thanks
The BIOS version is the date for legacy x86 ReadyNAS. 07/26/2010 is the latest version for your NAS.

So why is the BIOS version # 080014 exactly the same even though the dates of the BIOS ("10/03/2008" and "07/26/2010") are different?

Not sure on that. That would be a question for the hardware engineers.
But the date is the way to tell which version you have. That one from 07/26/2010 is the latest.
