Does RAIDar give you any useful information?
If the NAS is totally non-responsive, you will need to pull the power, and then try to power up again. Try holding down the power switch for several seconds first.
As I suspect you know, your data is at risk. If the NAS doesn't start up properly when you restore power, contact support at support.netgear.com.
Hello Stephen and thanks for taking the time to respond. I have been meaning to update on this one.
I discovered that in the office where the nas was installed that someoone had switched the power supplies! They had switched two netgear power supplies, one for the Netgear G116 ethernet switch and the Netgear ReadyNas meaning that there was not enough power getting into the nas to get it going. I have since found that the 12v 1.5A power supply for the ethernet switch is not working and so need to resolve the issue with that.
As I am now a power supply short then I have the nas sitting powerless as I am having to use the power supply from it to keep the ethernet switch going for the sake of the rest of the network. However I did test the nas and it seems like it is ok. It was detected by Raidar. Once I have a new power supply thenI can reconnect everything again. So far the data looks like it is all still there.
I have been looking to find a replacement 12v 1.5A power supply for the switch so that is my next step.
Once I am up and running with the nas again then I can update this with any issues.
