BtSync Issue - New Bittorrent Sync App via rnxtras.com

-> http://rnxtras.com/addons/bittorrent-sync-readynas-6-all

Hi guys,

I tried to install the Bittorrent Sync App 1.1.70 implemented by Poussin. (Readynas RN-102, everything up-to-date)
Everything worked fine, but when I fired up the app, there was an error in the log when starting the app via the ReadyNas webfrontend saying that the btsync folder creation failed (‘btsync’ creation failed). The second thing is, that when I login in into the btsync server webfrontend, nothing happens (I think this is because of the missing btsync folder). I rooted into the NAS and tried to check the btsync config and the startup init, though I’m not a great “script translator” I decided to write this post. Am I missing something? Do I have to turn on a certain services? Please show me the magic... :D

Anyway, thanxalot to Poussin for adding this nice app to the repository

P.S.: Is there a way to contact the author directly?, I would like to ask something about the iStat App? Is there a chance to see iStat running on the RN-102?
Poussin = Superpoussin?

  • OK, so this thread went dead, and I decided to gamble.

    -First I removed the btsync app from within the Dashboard
    -As from the beginning, I could not see a btsync Share from within the Dashboard
    -I went into the shell, and I confirmed that there was indeed a Share called btsync
    -I renamed the offending directory using:
    mv btsync oldbtsync
    - rebooted the NAS, just for the heck of it
    - re-installed btsync version .70 from the Dashboard

    Ta-da, it worked!

    I happily set up a couple of folders to sync, and then sat down to watch a movie.
    About 15 minutes later, the whole system froze up, complete disaster! It displayed a message in the Dashboard saying it could not connect to the system, and to call support. I had a total heart attack...
    Called Netgear support and they got me to re-flash the firmware from memory (using the reset button method)
    Now everything seems to be ok, and working perfectly
    Thanks Poussin and retox for your advice and help, much appreciated, and I sure know a lot more about the system now :-)
