Can my NAS tell me my IP addess!?

Assuming the BT router includes DDNS support, you should configure it there. Alternatively you could install a software client on a PC connected to the BT network. That will periodically probe the external IP and update the DDNS server.
If you try to put it on your Netgear router or subnet you will likely end up with the Netgear router's external IP instead of your real external IP. (The desktop client might figure out the true external IP, but I doubt that the router will).
