Can not map NAS as network drive on Windows 10 unless I login with admin account

Hello all,

I cannot seem to map my NAS as a network drive unless I use the admin login, any other login is deemed incorrect or non-existent.

I tried changing the share permissions from anonymous to everyone and then to a select group of users and none worked.

Any ideas on what I might be missing?

Your help is greatly appreciated

Many thanks ansd regards.

Are you trying to map a share or the NAS data volume?

If you are using the NAS hostname, then try using the IP address.

One barrier is that Windows only allows one SMB logon to a machine at a time.  The easiest way to test this is to use net use, and terminate any open sessions before each attempt.

    For instance

    net use * /delete

    net use t: \\nas-ip-address\share-name /user:username password

using real values for italicized placeholders.  Be careful on spaces and slash direction.

Also, a lot of people create a share with the same name as their data volume (which is data in the case of XRAID).  That doesn't work reliably, so if that is your situation you should rename the share.

      Hi StephenB,

I tried as per your instructions and initially got system error 1219, upon reboot i entered the same commands and got system error 53.

I looked up system error 53, and it could be because my remote registry service was disabled, i enabled it and it was to no avail as i got error 53 once more.

      Any ideas?

      Many thanks in advance.

But using net use t: \\nas-ip-address\volume-name /user:admin password works?
