Cannot find ReadyNAS2000

I am having problems locating my RND2000 v2 NAS.

This was one of the reasons why i changed from the BT HUB, thinking the NightHawk7000 would find it without any problem. However the NETGEAR Nighthawk7000 is also unable to see the ReadyNAS2000, even when using NETGEAR Genie, or connecting directly to the NAS via ethernet cable, the NAS cannot be located. It does not show as a device on the Network.

I am very reluctant to try any kind of reboot on the NAS (unless someone knows of a safe way to do this), as i have a lot of precious photo's/video's stored there.

I would welcome feedback from anyone who has had similar issues in the past, and has a solution to my problem.

After a fix is found i will definitely be looking to backup the data files etc. in case of a loss to the server in future.

    Does RAIDar find it?

Can you find it on the "attached devices" screen of the router?

    Hi DcDigital,

In addition to the response of StephenB unto you, kindly answer these few questions:

    a. Is your RND2000 really a v2 or a v1? Kindly access this link below to verify:

    http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how-to-tell-whether-i-have-a-duo-v1-or-duo-v2-or-nv-v1-or-nv-v2/

    b. Does your RND2000 have a static IP address?

    c. Is the LED light lit up on the ethernet port of your RND2000 when its connected to your NightHawk7000?

    Regards,

      Hello my moderator freinds,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I carried out a 'soft reboot' of the NAS (held in the reset button for 5 seconds until the disc lights flashed once).

This reset the unit and connected to the router without a problem.

One final question - does this reset the login\password to the NAS, as i cannot get in to the admin page

What you did is a called an OS reinstall.

It does reset the admin password ("netgear1" for v1 platforms, "password" for the newer ones).  It also reset your IP configuration to use DHCP.

Other settings were not changed, and the data should be intact.
