I may be totally out of date here but, as far as I understand, the 6TB WD Red HD is not on Netgear's hardware compatibility list for your ReadyNAS NV+ v2 but the 4TB WD RED (WD40EFRX) HD is: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641/~/hardware-compatibility-list-hard-disks
And so, I don't believe that Netgear or anybody else can guarantee that your 6TB HD will work with your legacy NV+ v2.
Maybe one of the senior forum members can shed more light on this.
