Can't get anonymous access to ReadyNAS Duo v2 from new laptop
I have been using a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo v2 (RAIDiator 5.3.11) here for about 5 years as a server for my desktop, laptop and smart TV. It has always been configured for anonymous access only, so I just log straight in, and on the computers the shares are set up seamlessly as a mapped drive. Over time I've run both Windows 7 and 10 on both computers, with no problems (in fact the desktop's currently on W7 and the laptop's on W10 and both work just fine).
Now, I've just bought a new, second laptop (a Lenovo ThinkPad X260), which I've deliberately ordered running Windows 7 Pro (for a specific, unrelated reason). The new laptop works perfectly, BUT when I try to connect to the ReadyNAS, it comes up with a box asking for my username/password, which of course I can't enter as they don't exist. Tried entering as blanks, to no avail. I've been googling everywhere for a solution without success. Any suggestions?
I really need this to work as this is how my house 'operates' (and I've deliberately only bought a tiny SSD for this new laptop anyway!) I should mention that I've seen this problem with the same NAS a while ago, with different computers (can't recall if or how it got sorted).
Is there possibly any mileage in the fact that the new Lenovo is running Windows 7 Pro, and the desktop is on Windows 7 Home Premium?
Any advice much appreciated - thanks
Unless you're looking for a cleaner solution, you can try the following:
1. In start menu, search for "manage network passwords".
2. Add an entry for the IP or the name of your NAS, with user guest and password guest.
3. Try connect to the samba share again using the IP or the name of your NAS (as entered above).
4. If doesn't work, modify the previous entry with user admin and password of the web GUI.
5. Try again.
Are the Win7 HP and Pro machines running with the same session username?

I really don't care how clean or filthy the solution is - that worked a treat! I've been trying to resolve this for 2 weeks - thank you so much!
Ah well.
I was mistaken unfortunately - although I have read access to the NAS drive from the new laptop I don't have full write access. As far as I can tell, I can create new files on the NAS drive while using the laptop and then edit them; and I can also edit these from my old desktop machine.
BUT - although using the new laptop I can open existing files on the NAS, I'm not allowed to edit them - if I try to save them without changing the filename (ie, "Save As"), I just get "Access is denied".
I've had a look at the Properties tab of and example of each type of file and there are differences in the "Group or user names" field which mean nothing to me - see screencaps below. Does this help explain what's going on?
Thanks!

Maybe try to reset the permissions on files and folders as per the procedure explained in page 35 of the User Manual:
