Can't get anonymous access to ReadyNAS Duo v2 from new laptop

Unless you're looking for a cleaner solution, you can try the following:
1. In start menu, search for "manage network passwords".
2. Add an entry for the IP or the name of your NAS, with user guest and password guest.
3. Try connect to the samba share again using the IP or the name of your NAS (as entered above).
4. If doesn't work, modify the previous entry with user admin and password of the web GUI.
5. Try again.
Are the Win7 HP and Pro machines running with the same session username?

Ah well.
I was mistaken unfortunately - although I have read access to the NAS drive from the new laptop I don't have full write access. As far as I can tell, I can create new files on the NAS drive while using the laptop and then edit them; and I can also edit these from my old desktop machine.
BUT - although using the new laptop I can open existing files on the NAS, I'm not allowed to edit them - if I try to save them without changing the filename (ie, "Save As"), I just get "Access is denied".
I've had a look at the Properties tab of and example of each type of file and there are differences in the "Group or user names" field which mean nothing to me - see screencaps below. Does this help explain what's going on?
Thanks!

Maybe try to reset the permissions on files and folders as per the procedure explained in page 35 of the User Manual:
