Those speeds sound like you have a 100 Mbit connection.

What network speed do you see reported under Network > Interfaces in Frontview. What speed does the NAS show up as on your switch.

Are both your NAS and your PC connected to your gigabit switch, or via other devices.

my netgear gs108na switch (also gigabit) is connected as well. then my client connected to the netgear as well.

Have you tested direct connection? PC to NAS?

using round robin teaming mode , not 802.3ad

Try turning teaming off, and see if anything changes.

OK so with everything connected to ONLY to the Pace modem (Model 5168N) i am getting better speeds.

up to 70 MB/s write (600 Mbit/s), so thats about 50% of my gigabit connection.

looks like the issue is either with the netgear switch (gs108na) or the 25 ft cat5e (Belden bonded pair) patch cord that connects it to the Pace.

and i guess my NAS cant write any faster than about 70 MB/s ( < < Does this look right? )

Was the PC connected to the switch before? If so, the cable between the switch and the Pace isn't the issue, since the data never reaches the router if everything is connected to the switch.

this is off topic but what 4 bay NAS has the best performance currently? ( if i were to look at upgrading this unit)

Best bet is to go with the 6 bay RN516 (or the RN716 if you can afford it). The 500 and 700 series are the fastest, but neither has a 4 bay version at present.

The 716 will do ~600 MB/s on a 10 gig link, so it easily maxes out gigabit.
