Can't SSH login with Root and admin pass - ReadyNAS NV+ (Radiator 4.1.16)
Hi,
I'm *still* running an NV+ with Radiator 4.1.16 :-) I'm getting ready to upgrade to a more modern box, and trying to ssh to clean up some permissions issues.
I can connect via ssh with the admin user, but the connection closes right away. I'm guessing this is because admin has a shell of /bin/false.
Unfortunately, I can't figure out what the password for "root" is - it's not the same as admin, and I've also tried "password" and "infrant1" and "netgear1".
Can I force the root password to change from the FrontView?
Thanks,
chris
The root password is the same as the admin password. If you're finding that isn't the case, try changing the admin password in frontview.
Have you installed the add on that enables ssh? It's the first one listed here: https://kb.netgear.com/24546/Add-ons-for-RAIDiator-4-1-3-Sparc
Note you can also reset permissions and ownership in Frontview - it's on the "advanced" settings tab for the share.

Thanks for the reply!
I installed the plugin a long time ago. It doesn't currently show up in the list of plugins ... I wlll try reinstalling it. Thanks for the pointer - I couldn't find the SPARC binaries, just the x86 ...
I tried the admin password for "ssh root@host" but get "permission denied". If I use "ssh admin@host", I can log in, but the shell exits immediately.
I tried changing the admin password with FrontView but it doesn't seem to take - the password remains the same. I'm not sure what's going on there.
I've got some individual files that need ownership changed and can't seem to make that work at all... there's no "advanced" tab that I can see? I can't see the ownership at all via the browser, and I can't change it across the network when I mount the share.

Hey, that seems to have worked! (reloading the plugin).
Thanks.
