Changing disc on a 104

I always prefer hot-swapping, since then the NAS has a clear indication of removal/insertion

So you can simply remove the 2 TB drive with the NAS running, install the new drive into the same tray, and then hot-insert.

Also, it is always a good idea to update backups before manipulating the disk drives in the RAID array.

Finally got round to doing this last night and my 104 just flashes degraded on the front panel and hard drive 4 light just flashes, is this correct.

Have you installed the 3TB disk yet?

What do you see under Volumes in the Dashboard?

Pulled the 2tb and fitted the 3tb last night but still showing degraded this morning, do I have to do anything else.

Its not showing the new 3tb in the volumes tab.

I thought it would be a simple pul one drive, fit the new one and let the volume rebuild as I am set for raid 5.

Was the 3 TB drive unformatted?

Yes was a brand new drive.

And the NAS was running when you inserted it?

Did you test the new drive ?
What make and model drive?
What firmware?
Have you rebooted?

Yes nas was running when the new drive was inserted and the drive was tested.

Have not rebooted as thought that might not be a good idea as nas is flashing degraded.

Drive is a wd red.
