- StephenBGuru - Experienced Userx86 platforms use xraid-2. Why on earth would you want to use xraid-1????
- jim852AspirantSimply because I dont want to loose half of my disks in backup
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredX-RAID (1) is only available on some EOL products as StephenB indicated.
X-RAID2 is better than X-RAID
I think you are confusing X-RAID2 vs X-RAID with X-RAID2 dual-redundancy vs X-RAID2 single-redundancy.
You are also confusing RAID with backup. RAID provides redundancy/high-availability. Important data primarily stored on the ReadyNAS should be backed up to another device e.g. a USB disk - jim852AspirantThanks to you both, its honestly appreciated. Being new to this I am more than willing to accept that I missread the information or at least missunderstood it. If either you or StephenB have any tips to pass on Id be glad to have them. Id like to say that I owe you a pint for your help but the distance is a litte awkward.
Best regards
Jim
