CIFS Default Access
Why is it that files saved from Windows 7 to CIFS shares on my ReadyNAS NV+ (RAIDiator 4.1.8 ) only have read access when the Default Access is set to Read/write in Frontview? This is causing problem...

There are settings for permissions on both the CIFS and Advanced Options Tabs.
I am thinking you executed the procedure on Advanced Options (Set ownership and permission for existing file...) but that you might have missed the settings on the CIFS tab (Automatically set permissions on new files and folders...). That would explain your symptoms.
Note also the setting "Do not allow ACL changes to be more restrictive than this."
