Clone HDD
Need help guys I have 2x1tb in a raid and a single 1tb disk which is configured by itself and has now developed some bad sectors, is there anyway to remove the drive and create a clone to a new hdd...
Yes you can, any cloning utility that does sector by sector copying will work - the linux disk format shouldn't matter. Of course if there is an unreadable sector, you potentially end up with some file corruption. Make sure you power down the NAS, especially before reinserting.
Alternatively, back up the volume, then destroy it when the new disk arrives. Then insert the new drive, recreate it, and restore the data. The NAS can be left powered with this approach.
