Connect Squeezebox to NAS when computer is off

I have a Squeezebox Radio connected to my NasReady. It works fine when my computer is on and when Logitech Media Server is started from there. But when I turn off my computer. I can't access my Nas anymore. I get the message on the display of my Squeezebox (translated from Swedish) "Your computer is not connected to the network or start your Squeeze Server".

I have installed the Squeezebox Server software like this - http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17012/section/troubleshoot/crid/439/lt_product_id/5847/tabs/1,3,2,5/cl/us,en.

What else can I do to access my Nas while my computer is off? I don't want to start the Squeezebox Server everytime to make it work.

Thankful for any help!

Ola

  • Make sure that SBS on your NAS is properly scanning your Music (Path to your music is typically specified as /<share>/folder/storing/your/music - for example /media/Music/mp3 - beware the path is case sensitive)
    - Check

Make sure your player is connected to SBS on the NAS, not the one on your PC
    - this is something i might need a brief explanation of. Cause now it only works when I have my PC turned on. In mysqueezebox.com I get the message that my SB is not connected.

I appriceate you taking time to help me!
  • Services / Streamingservices/ I only have Squeeze center installed. Should I have more Squeeze products here? On the screen it says I can download the "full version" but that link doesn't work. Do I need that one?

I am not sure about this: "You will need to configure Squeezecenter on the NAS, usually you need to access this from your PC using the LAN address of your readynas: ipaddressofduo:9000"

    No

Enter http://ip.address.of.duo:9000 into a browser - replacing "ip.address.of.duo" with the IP address of your Duo eg http://192.168.1.100:9000
  • Ok, I followed the wizard and I hope it was a success. I must call my wife at home and see if it works..
  • Your music should appear in the web interface you just loaded once the scan is complete. Once the music is present there, any further issues are likely due to the player itself not accessing the NAS based SBS
  • The last (?) problem is that there is no SB connected to the media server. Seems like the media server is not able to find it. When I log in to mysqueezebox.com my player is there (I have only one SB Radio) but that is not connected. So - how do I connect my SB to the mediaserver?

I can see all my media in the interface.
  • It is not a server problem, but a player problem. Your Player is connected to the Logitech mysqueezebox.com internet service instead of to your NAS and this can only be corrected on the player.

IIRC (no SBR to hand) go to the "My Music" menu and scroll down - there should be an option to change the connection
