Constant disc activity
Hi
I have a Readynas 524 with 3 x WD 8TB discs and firmware 6.9.2
There is constant disc activity
I use only the Plex app, and I have turned on File search, but not Antivirus
Is it the the Plex app or the File Search that cause the disc activity?
regards Paal
Inserting the 4th disc and syncing was finished today.
File search is not indexing, it says Enabled.
Plec is finished gathering metadata
It seems that there is not abnormal disc activity anymore
I close the case :)

If you just enabled file search, then it does need to take some time to build up its index.
Plex also will generate constant disk activity when it is building its media library (and that continues while it is gathering metadata from the internet).
But once those processes complete, they shouldn't be generating constant disk activity.
Have you enabled disk spindown on your NAS?
- fondyTutorThank for your reply StephenB I enabled File Search 5 days ago. The Plex was installed one week ago and the media library was generated short after that. I have now enabled Spin Down all time and after 5 minutes of inactivity. Paal

The system overview page will tell you if file search is indexing or not.
The plex web interface should give you some clues on whether it is finished gathering metadata - in particular there is a notification are on the bottom right of the browser windows that might be showing what titles it is looking at. I'd expect it to have finished within a week. When did the volume finish syncing?
