You could have changed the workgroup of the readynas to match thàt of the rest of your network machines, as I suggested earlier. If its working I suppose it doesn't matter but it would be nice to understand what you've actually done.

Cheers vandermerwe, having looked at my settings in frontview the Hostname & Workgroup was already set to the name of the NAS drive (i didn't do that)
so when I got the WDTV to look directly at the NAS it all suddenly came to life. I get uniterrupted viewing of all my media and now all the metadata that
had never appeared using the onboard readydnla is there with artwork etc.I still have ReadyDNLA & Plex running on my mobile devices in and they seem
to be fine now, thank god for that!!!! I won't hold my breath though, will keep you posted thatnks for all your suggestions and help.
