Copy between USB share and 'normal' share is going over LAN?
Hello, Previously a USB-HDD was connected to my laptop and I moved some files(±25GB) to the USB-HDD. I took ±15 minutes. Now I've connected the external USB-HDD via the front USB port to my read...
I had the same problem and tried the php browersolution till I installed elfm. It runs on your NAS so the files are not going over the network and your computer and back. Moving a directory with 100 Gbyte on the same disk takes only a second as it's just a rename. Moving between disk depends on the disk speed.
Easy to install : just type "apt-get install emelfm" as root and no quotes ;-)
emelfm is is an X-windows client application : it runs on the NAS but output is send to your computer screen:
"export DISPLAY=192.168.0.99:0" (replace by your computer IP an no quotes).
You need an X-windows server on your computer. I used Xming (open source, free and small).
Another working X-windows filemanager xnc works fine too : "apt-get install xnc"
The Midnight Commander you can see in the previous post : "apt-get install mc" No X-windows required for this one so you can use it from any SSH capable machine.
