Copying large amounts of data to ReadyNas 214 starts at 100MB/s +/- and drops to 15MB/s +/-
Hello all I have a ReadyNas with (at the moment) one 5TB WD Red NAS Drive installed. Yesterday I copied approximately 100GB of Data to it and the transfer started well at over 100MB/s, howeve...

First of all, the dropped packets were delivered, so the GS108T has no way of knowing that the NAS didn't process them.
Are Jumbo Frames enabled anywhere on the network? If so, double-check the MTU you are using.
The frame errors are probably the place to start - they usually are ethernet packets that had a bad CRC checksum. That suggests a problem with the link between the switch and the NAS. Try a different cable first, then move the cable to a different switch port on both the GS108T and the RN214.
Also, enable ethernet flow control on the GS108T.

Hello Stephen
Thanks for the reply.
I have put my answers below:

Yes, 9K Jumbo Frames are Enabled on the PCs, Switch and ReadyNas.

I have tried multiple cables and also different Ports on the GS108Tv2, I have even tried a different Switch with no improvement.
Is there anyway to zero out the Network Settings Log so that I can get a better idea of what is happening?

Flow Control is Enabled on the GS108Tv2.
As I mentioned in a previous discussion with you concerning Teaming, the Eth0 Port is showing as Not Active, even when a cable is plugged in (as shown below) to which you replied that there is a known issue with Lan Teaming on 6.6.0. Hopefully this issue will be resolved in the next Firmware.
Because of this I am unfortunately not able to try connecting a Lan Cable to Eth0.
Thanks in advance
Kevin

A reboot should do it. Though it's tedious you can download before and after a test, and subtract. Or get the stats via ssh (ifconfig).

That is annoying, and unfortunately not in the changelog for 6.6.1 beta. Hopefully they will fix it in beta 4. Maybe try pming skywalker or kohdee and see if there is a manual way to resolve it.
It's possible that the RN214 NIC is simply failing, and you need an RMA.
You could try turning JF off on the data source and the RN214 and see if that changes anything. No need to change the switch settings. Also, if you still have LACP configured on the switch - The switch has different settings for MTU, one for the link, and a second one for the bond. The one for the bond is a bit hard to find. Though the bond won't set up with only one cable, it might be prudent to check with a switch port that isn't part of the bond configuration,
Or just confirm the MTU on the path to the NAS, using ping on the PC.

Hello Stephen
I have sent a PM to SkyWalker so I will see what he has to say.
I forgot to mention that even though Eth0 is shown as Not Active on the ReadyNas the GS108Tv2 shows the Link as Active when the cable is plugged in.
Also, I have just ran a test copying the same data from the ReadyNas to my PC and it was stable at 115MB/s +/- for the whole copy.
Thanks
Kevin
