Corrupt Root

Hi,
Just managed to unpack and boot up my Netgear RND2000 ReadyNAS Duo 2-Bay (no disks) NAS Enclosure (http://www.ebuyer.com/149510-netgear-rnd2000-readynas-duo-2-bay-no-disks-nas-enclosure-rnd2000-100uks). and Raidar say "corrupt root". Looking through the forums it seems that I need to Upgrade/reinstall the firmware. Just wondering if anyone as any instruction on this. Has tech support phone line are off for the weekend, and i would like to start using the device today.

Many THanks,

Sprouty

Did you put used disks in the NAS? The data on these disks cannot be preserved and they will need to be wiped. You can force the NAS to wipe the disks by doing a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything):
    1. Power down NAS
    2. Press and hold reset button
    3. Power on NAS
    4. Keep holding reset button. The disk LEDs will blink twice. Once after about 5 seconds and a second time after about 30 seconds. Release after the second set (about 30 seconds).

If that doesn't help perhaps have a look at: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/raidar_status_said_corrupted_root_during_factory_reset_or_installation._what_should_i_do

    Welcome to the forum!
  • Hi mdgm,

I didn't put used disk in the NAS. I followed the instruction you posted and it worked. Thank you very much. Just have to wait for the disk to be formatted now :-D

    Many Thanks,

    You're welcome.

    What brand and model disks?

When you can get into Frontview check the version of RAIDiator.

if the RAIDiator firmware that came on the unit was older than 4.1.7 I would suggest updating to the latest firmware, verifying update completed successfully and then doing another factory default (e.g. via System > Update > Factory Default). This will give you 4k sector alignment which is a requirement for compatibility with many 2TB disks.
  • Can some help me too.
I follow the steps because i have the same problem. But in my case the leds are in blue and it been 3 hours and nothing is happening can i turn the nas off or wait?
one last note i did put a used hd from the spec list model and brand
    thank you
  • Ok i fix me problem.
First i os reinstall from this link
    http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu
and then keep getting the corrupt root
and then from the same link i factory default and work
    thanks
