re the line earlier regarding deletion of files -
CrashPlan has just finished the block level sync to confirm the files are inplace on their cloud server, along with files that were orphaned.
Basically, on my Ultra theres a folder I put files that I no longer need as the originals on dvd's etc. They are deleted from the nas once they have been backed-up to the crashplan cloud server. They stay available to restore - as crashplan do not delete files unless you set your preferences to.
The adoption process is documented on crashplan and has to be done a certain way, or you have to start the backups from scratch. Hence I needed to test this scenario before i committed loads of data that will take an age to upload over the internet. Unfortunately, I cannot state what will happen under your set-up? I hope someone does chip in with sufficent experience & linuxskills informingus how to upgrade the client :)
personally, I just need to sort out if/howto update java?
I took a link you posted on that, it looked promising, but way outside my comfort zone as i'm a linux newbie as well.
