Data recovery posibility disk 1 failed hard drive, disk 4 sectors that could not be read
I'm posting on this forum to get further details to consider if Netgear support is likely to recover data after the following events occurred written below. The device is a ReadyNAS 314, has four har...

The question here is whether disk 4 is readable. There aren't many pending sector errors, but that can be misleading.
However, the stats suggest that data recovery is reasonably likely to succeed.

Thanks for replying StephenB. I welcome the information that data recovery reasonably likely to succeed.
My only doubts are that why when the NAS when shut down and powered up again the volume disappeared. Even though it's showing that a new volume needs to be created is the data still in there somewhere, where support can recover it. The other doubt is when it booted back again why all four disk have green okay status instead of showing one disk failed and the other failing. Could all four disks be in good condition but the NAS failed due to a software issue? If so can data still be recovered?
Thanks.

Likely it was a combination of the forced shutdown with some pending writes that never happened. I am thinking Netgear support can probably manually mount the volume, though it's possible there would be some data corruption. Per-incident support could possibly cover it, but you'd need to pursue that with Netgear.
FWIW I lost a data volume on a duo once due to an unexpected power cut. I had a backup, so I just rebuilt it.
