Define file/folder share on NAS with U/P combo from Asus dev
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and I feel like an idiot, so please give me the benefit of the doubt here that I'm not being lazy. I have an Asus O!Play device, and all I need to do is to define a folder share on the ReadyNAS Pro2, so that the Asus device can use a username and password authenticated to the ReadyNAS, and then the ReadyNAS drops the Asus into a folder on the NAS. I don't seem to be able to figure this out, and I feel there must be a way to do this. Thank you very much.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI think this depends on the O!Play model (http://www.asus.com/Multimedia/Digital_ ... /#download)
Do you have the O!Play HD2? That is the only model that claims NAS support. Most of the other models support DLNA (except for the O!Play Mini) - PeteWalker74Aspirant

It's not a limitation of the device, it's that I can't seem to share the folder on the NAS properly in the web interface. I can share files/folders from my Windows machine just fine. It will WORK with this, the problem is I have to choose the NAS and traverse all the folders every time. That's annoying for my wife and I. I just want to make a shortcut, hit on it, and be presented with a particular folder on the NAS. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt would help if you told us what O!Play model you are using It would also be useful to know if you are are using ReadyDLNA or accessing the NAS with FTP or SAMBA.

HDP-R1. I didn't realize it mattered. My apologies. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIf ReadyDLNA is turned on in the pro, start by turning it off (at least for now). See if that changes the behavior.
The NAS should look like a PC as far as the O!Play is concerned. You should be able to see each share at the top level, but you will need to traverse folders within the share.
Have you configured shares on the Pro yet? Also, are you wanting shortcuts for the NAS on the PC???? - PeteWalker74Aspirant

Again, I can traverse the folders just find, as previously mentioned. What I want is to share a certain folder from the NAS directly (not using Windows) so I can go straight to that folder from the Asus, without having to traverse the folders every time. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAnd is this "certain folder from the NAS" a share?

That's where I'm running into the problem. I want to share that folder in a way that the Asus box can connect directly to it, thereby avoiding traversing all the folders. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI think I understand what you want to do. But you aren't really answering my questions.
Shares are listed on the share listing page of Frontview. Is the folder you are wanting to access a share, or is it a subfolder within a share?
Also, is the ReadyDLNA server turned off on the NAS? - PeteWalker74Aspirant

Alright, I apologize. Obviously, I want to get this resolved, so not answering questions isn't what will get me there, so I'm sorry if you felt that way. Ok, the folder I want the Asus to hit is inside an existing share, it's just a few folders deep. ReadyDLNA was not on, so I left it off.
