Deleting MANUALLY the TM directory on my NV+: big mistake?

Just want to correct what I said yesterday regarding backup speed for rsync (I know its not related to my original question) before throwing by notes into the garbage:
- rsync backup speed was in reality around 2500-3000KB/s (rsync running on the NV+)
- FileCopy from the Synology using their DSM interfacd was even slower with around 850 KB/s
